Hosur faces traffic snarls due to work of new suburban bus stand, flyover on Bengaluru–Chennai National Highway
KRISHNAGIRI: Construction work on a new suburban bus stand and a flyover near Pathalapalli in Hosur has been hampering traffic flow on the Bengaluru–Chennai National Highway in the last few days.
Authorities have diverted vehicles to the service road for the construction work of the Rs 40crore bus stand project, along with the erection of flyover pillars, causing traffic congestion for nearly 3km from the Hosur bus stand to Pathalapalli.
The traffic congestion is severe during peak hours with serpentine queues of two-wheelers and other vehicles stranded on the stretch.
“School and college students, and office-goers face delays as vehicles move at a slow pace,” said V Ramesh, a motorist from Hosur.
He said: “The service road is not designed to handle such heavy traffic. With all vehicles being diverted to the service road, it feels like we are stuck in a never-ending line,” said a daily commuter from Bengaluru.
Locals also raised concerns over traffic management. “We understand development is important, but the authorities should plan better. People are suffering every day,” said S Kavitha, a shopkeeper near Pathalapalli.
Officials acknowledged the inconvenience and said the flyover project was aimed at easing congestion. “Once completed, the flyover will significantly reduce traffic snarls in Hosur. We request the public to cooperate during this temporary hardship,” a highway engineer said.
