Ranchi: A woman has been detained for questioning after her father-in-law was found dead at his Vidyanagar-based house under the Pandra police outpost limits in Ranchi, police said.
The deceased, Dr KP Gupta, had been bed-ridden for past several months following a paralytic attack, police added.
Kotwali DSP Nikhil Rai said, “Dr KP Gupta was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his house. The body was sent to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Ranchi, for post-mortem examination. So far, there is no conclusive evidence of murder. A case is yet to be registered.”
The son of the deceased, Saurav Gupta, told police that his wife, Nikita Kumari, strangulated his father with a pillow while he and his mother were at their shop.
He was allegedly monitoring his father’s room on his computer through remote access of a closed circuit television camera (CCTV) when the connection was suddenly lost. He rushed home and found his father dead, he further alleged.
