Ranchi/Dhanbad: The immersion of Saraswati idols transformed Ranchi into a moving celebration as processions passed through Lalpur, Kokar, Morabadi, Hinoo, Dhurwa, Namkum and Hatia, blending devotion with vibrant street culture on Saturday. Drumbeats, devotional songs and colour-filled convoys of youth carrying idols created a festive rhythm across major routes.
In several neighbourhoods, students and families participated together, turning the immersion into a community ritual rather than just a religious activity. “For us, it’s not only about visarjan, it’s a farewell to learning and discipline for the year,” said Ankit Sharma, a college student from Lalpur.
At Kokar, women from local committees joined the procession carrying flowers and lamps. “We prepare the idol with devotion and we immerse it with the same respect,” said Sunita Devi, a resident.
Meanwhile, following the directives of the district administration, the immersion of idols was carried out peacefully across
Dhanbad. From early morning, students, teachers, and devotees gathered at schools, colleges, and community pandals to perform the final rituals.
Priyanka Singh, one of the devotees, said, “It is an incredible pleasure when we welcome Goddess Saraswati. However, the moment of immersion the next day is truly emotional. It feels like bidding farewell to a family member.”
The district administration had issued clear guidelines to ensure environmental safety and law and order, which were largely followed. Police and local volunteers were present to maintain smooth conduct.
