RMC markings on key routes to avoid accidents
Ranchi: Road safety measures are being strengthened in the city, with fresh markings completed at 19 key locations, officials of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) said on Monday.RMC painted zebra crossings, stop lines, installed directional arrows and marked designated pick-up and drop points at several busy stretches to improve pedestrian movement and regulate traffic flow.
The markings were painted near important public spaces such as Morabadi, Kanke Road and areas close to educational institutions, parks and govt offices.Officials said the initiative aimed to make roads safer for pedestrians, particularly children, elderly people and persons with disabilities. Clear stop lines and arrow markings are also expected to help drivers follow lane discipline and reduce congestion at busy intersections."Road markings help both pedestrians and motorists understand how traffic should move. The work was completed at 19 identified locations in the first phase, and more places will be covered gradually," an official statement read.Pick-up and drop markings were introduced near locations where school vehicles, autorickshaws and taxis frequently stop.Among the locations where the work was carried out are Alberta Chowk, areas in Morabadi near Oxygen Park and the Tribal Museum, Ram Mandir Chowk on Kanke Road, and stretches near Ranchi College playground and Jaipal Singh Stadium. The civic body has also started repainting road dividers along several routes as part of efforts to improve road visibility and city aesthetics. Authorities urged residents to follow the markings and avoid spitting gutka or paan on public infrastructure, warning that violations could invite penalties.
