Ranchi Gears Up for Ram Navami: RMC Unveils Comprehensive Plan for Clean, Safe, and Organized Shobha Yatra

Ranchi: With the Ram Navami Shobha yatra set to take out on Friday, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has rolled out a comprehensive plan to ensure clean, safe and well-organised celebrations across the city.

Special sanitation drives are underway along key procession routes such as Main Road and religious sites, including mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling and bleaching. Additional dustbins have been placed, and a major drain near the Tapovan temple has been cleaned to prevent waterlogging.

To facilitate smooth movement, RMC will run free city bus services on Friday across 10 major routes, connecting areas such as Bariatu, Kanke Road, Ratu Road and Namkum. Five buses will remain on standby for emergency deployment, with priority for women, children and the elderly.

Lighting has been significantly strengthened, with 35 generators installed at 32 locations and 686 additional high-mast lights being set up. Repair of faulty street lights are also being fast-tracked to ensure uninterrupted illumination during the procession.

“RMC is ensuring special cleanliness drives, drinking water supply through tankers, mobile toilets at key locations and free bus services for devotees. Additional lighting, drain coverage, tree trimming and continuous monitoring by seven dedicated teams are in place to provide a safe and well-organised environment,” its official statement read.

The corporation has deployed 25 water tankers to supply drinking water at designated points, while nine tankers are stationed along main routes. Mobile toilets have been installed at locations such as Kutchery Chowk, Shaheed Chowk and Albert Ekka Chowk.

As part of safety measures, 148 slabs have been placed over open drains and tree branches have been trimmed along major routes. A ban on the sale of meat and fish will be enforced on the day, along with strict prohibition on single-use plastic along procession routes.

Medical preparedness has also been strengthened, with emergency teams deployed at 15 key locations, including Main Road, Lower Bazar and Doranda Bazar, supported by ambulances. “We have deployed medical teams with ambulances at 15 strategic locations across the city to ensure immediate response in case of any emergency during the procession. Similar preparedness has been ensured in all 14 rural blocks so that people in peripheral areas also receive timely medical assistance,” Civil surgeon Prabhat Kumar said.
