Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has cautioned that the West Asia conflict may intensify before improving, raising concerns over its direct impact on India. He pointed to the country’s dependence on LPG imports, especially from Qatar and the Gulf, warning of possible shortages affecting households and businesses. Tharoor also highlighted the likelihood of rising diesel and petrol prices if the crisis drags on. Referring to troop movements by the United States and statements from Iran, he said peace does not appear imminent, while urging stronger global efforts, including from the United Nations, to de-escalate tensions.
