NATO Nation Spain Blocks US War Flights, Denies Bases & Airspace For Iran Strikes | Details

A major rift is emerging within NATO as Spain moves to block U.S. military operations linked to the Iran conflict. Madrid has shut its airspace to aircraft involved in the U.S.-Israel war effort, signaling a sharp break from Washington’s strategy. Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles made it clear that Spain will not allow its territory or airspace to be used for strikes against Iran, also barring access to key bases like Naval Station Rota and Morón Air Base. The decision is already impacting U.S. military logistics, forcing aircraft to reroute and reducing operational efficiency. Reports suggest tanker aircraft have been relocated, while long-range bombers must now fly longer paths, affecting fuel and payload capacity.
