Ramgarh Police Launch Prahrai: 259 Hotspots Targeted for Increased Foot Patrols to Combat Street Crime
Ramgarh: In a proactive move to strengthen ground-level policing, Ramgarh police have identified 259 locations across the district for intensified foot patrols aimed at curbing street crime and improving public safety.
On Thursday, it formally rolled out a special drive titled Prahrai, as part of which the district police personnel will be seen conducting patrols on foot at these hotspots two to three times a week, in addition to routine vehicle patrols. The identified areas include crowded markets, public spaces and key stretches in Ramgarh town and other parts of the district, where incidents of snatching, eve-teasing and unlawful gatherings are more likely.
Ramgarh SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said the move is designed to make the police more visible, alert and people-friendly. “Cops on foot will closely monitor unnecessary grouping, public nuisance and crimes against women. The aim is to deter crime and build public confidence,” he said.
Senior officers, including SDPOs of Ramgarh and Patratu, along with inspectors from Gola, Patratu and Mandu, will lead the special drives. Apart from crime prevention, teams will also act against illegal parking, street encroachments and traffic obstructions.
Police said coordination with local civic bodies such as the Ramgarh Municipal Council and Ramgarh Cantonment Board will be ensured for effective implementation.
Officials believe that sustained foot patrols at identified vulnerable points will help maintain order in busy areas and act as a deterrent against petty crimes and anti-social activities.
