Ram Navami Celebrations in Ranchi: Preparations, Devotion, and Civic Efforts
Ranchi: The state capital decked up with saffron flags and banners, and markets witnessed brisk business on the eve of Ram Navami on Thursday.
Markets such as Upper Bazar, Main Road and Doranda saw a steady stream of customers purchasing puja items, flags, idols and traditional attire. “There has been a significant increase in footfall. People are buying flags, especially Hanuman flags, and other items needed for the puja,” said Manoj Kumar, a shopkeeper in Upper Bazar.
Temples across Ranchi were decorated with flowers and lights to welcome devotees from the crack of dawn on Friday. “Devotees start coming early in the morning, from 3 am, for prayers on Ram Navami. The atmosphere is very devotional, and the turnout increases as the day progresses,” said Sushil Dubey, president at Tapovan Temple.
With thousands set to descend on the streets to take part in the vibrant processions, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation carried out special cleaning drives along the key routes and religious sites. Dustbins were placed along the routes to prevent littering, and a major drain near Tapovan temple was cleaned to prevent waterlogging.
RMC said free city bus services will be run on 10 routes connecting Bariatu, Kanke Road, Ratu Road and Namkum. Five buses will remain on standby for emergency deployment, with priority for women, children and the elderly.
In a statement, the RMC said 35 generators have been installed and 686 additional high mast lights are being set up. Twenty five water tankers have been placed at various points along with ambulances. Mobile toilets have been installed at locations such as Kutchery Chowk, Shaheed Chowk and Albert Ekka Chowk.
“RMC is ensuring special cleanliness drives, drinking water supply through tankers, mobile toilets at key locations and free bus services for devotees. Additional lighting, drain coverage, tree trimming and continuous monitoring by seven dedicated teams are in place to provide a safe and well-organised environment,” its official statement read.
