Jamshedpur: Officials of Chakradharpur railway division were felicitated on Wednesday for providing safe passage to elephant herds between October 31 and November 1 this year.
Railway officials were felicitated by the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) at the meeting hall of division headquarters here.

As many as 12 long distance trains on the up and down lines of the Howrah-Mumbai route were halted between October 31 and November 1 to provide safe passage to a herd of 22 elephants. The jumbos were camping near the railway tracks between Birsa and D cabin on Jharkhand-Odisha border.
That apart, railway movement had on the division had been halted several times to ensure safe crossing of elephant herds. Tarun Huria, divisional railway manager of Chakradharpur, was present on the occasion.
