Rah Veer Yojana rolled out in Palamu to curb fatalities due to road accidents
Daltonganj: The Palamu administration has rolled out Rah Veer Yojana to reduce fatalities caused by road accidents. Launched on Dec 29, the initiative offers Rs 25,000 to the Good Samaritans who admit road accident victims to the hospital within the golden hour (within one hour of the accident).These men and women, officials said, will not face police enquiries or legal hassles. Earlier, a similar scheme offered Rs 5,000 to the Good Samaritans.“Under the Rah Veer Yojana, the hospital management will inform the police about the Good Samaritan who got the injured person to the hospital. The police will then inform the deputy commissioner (DC) and district transport officer (DTO). After due verification, the Good Samaritan will be provided with the cash incentive,” an official said.DC Sameera S recently held a road safety meeting with the DTO and other officials earlier this month. “Not a month goes by where lives are not lost due to road accidents in the district,” DTO J K Yadav told TOI.District transport officer J K Yadav told this correspondent "There is hardly any month here when there is no road mishap and one or two human lives are not lost. It's our prime concern."
