Police crack down on Chhatabad firing case, FIR against 32 accused

Dhanbad: Police have intensified action in connection with the firing and assault incident that took place at Chhatabad under the Katras police station area on the night of May 27. An FIR has been lodged against 22 named accused and 10 unidentified persons. Three accused have been arrested so far, while raids are underway to nab the remaining suspects.

According to police, the violence erupted following an old rivalry between Vikas Bajrangi and Amit Yadav. The dispute reportedly escalated into a clash between two groups, leading to assault and indiscriminate firing in the locality. Two persons sustained bullet injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment.

Acting swiftly, police arrested three named accused identified as Anand Yadav (28), Vivek Thakur (25), and Karan Das (32). During the operation, police also seized a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two empty shells and a vehicle allegedly used in the crime.

Baghmara SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said the police are conducting continuous raids to arrest the remaining accused involved in the incident. “No criminal will be spared, and strict action will be taken against all those responsible,” he said.

Police officials said further investigation is underway, and additional arrests are expected in the coming days.
