A 16-year-old girl was killed, while her minor brother sustained injuries after their two-wheeler was hit by a school bus in Ranchi’s Khelgaon area on Friday morning, triggering widespread protests from locals who blocked roads in anger.According to police, the siblings were on their way from Kokar to Tatisilwai for some work when their two-wheeler lost control and slipped under a speeding school bus. The girl died on the spot, while her brother was rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries.“The incident occurred at around 7 am on Friday. Police have gathered footage from CCTV cameras installed inside the school bus. In the footage, it is seen that the duo lost control of the two-wheeler and slipped under the rear wheels of the bus. Following that, the minor girl died on the spot,” said Khelgaon police station in-charge Abhishek Kumar.He added that the police are investigating the case, and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty. Soon after the accident, angry locals blocked the road for about an hour in protest, demanding the arrest of the bus driver. “Out of fury, the locals blocked the road at Khelgaon following the fatal incident. Commuters had to face inconvenience for a brief period however, police managed to control the crowd soon,” Kumar said.A contractual nurse working with the RINPAS and her five-year-old daughter were killed when a speeding truck hit their two-wheeler at Kanke on Aug 29.
