Land identified at Dhanbad sadar hospital for new medical college
Dhanbad: In a boost to healthcare infrastructure, Dhanbad would get a new medical college on the Sadar Hospital premises on around five acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore, officials said.
Acting on the directives of the state govt, A team of senior officials, led by the deputy commissioner and senior superintendent of police, recently inspected the proposed site. Under the supervision of the civil surgeon, land on the Sadar Hospital campus has been identified and measured for the proposed institution that would be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. If additional space is needed, land acquisition outside the hospital premises may also be considered.
Preparations are also on to remove old structures within the campus to pave the way for modern infrastructure. Construction of a boundary wall is likely to begin soon. The project is expected to be funded with state govt support, District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Regional deputy director Dr Vijay Shankar stated that once the required land is formally allocated by the district administration and local bodies, construction work can begin without delay.
Deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan confirmed that necessary instructions have been issued to the departments concerned to expedite the process. He added that the new medical college will significantly enhance healthcare services in the region while also generating employment opportunities.
