Koderma: In a move towards reform and rehabilitation, Koderma DC Rituraj on Monday rolled out a 10-day mushroom production training programme for inmates of the Koderma jail.
The programme, organised under Honhaar Koderma in collaboration with RSETI Training Institute, will run until September 17, with daily sessions from 10 am to 5 pm.
DC Rituraj encouraged prisoners to utilise the opportunity to become self-reliant.

TOI, he said that apart from mushroom cultivation training, more such training programmes on other useful subjects will be introduced in the future for inmates.
During the training, inmates will be introduced to the entire cycle of mushroom production—from understanding edible varieties, climatic needs, and commercial cultivation techniques, to farm designing, maintaining moisture, preparing casing soil, identifying quality mushrooms, and learning proper cutting and cleaning methods.
DC Rituraj said, “The programme is a progressive step in prison reform, aiming not just at skill development but also at restoring dignity and creating pathways for livelihood. The programme will bring positive change in the lives of inmates.”
