Jharkhand Rain Damages Voter Stickers Ahead of Ranchi Revision, Election Commission Assures Data Safety
Ranchi: With the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls set to begin in Ranchi from June 30 unseasonal rainfall lashing several parts of Jharkhand in the last few days has damaged booth level officer (BLO) stickers outside households. The Election Commission, however, said that the damaged stickers will not affect any voter data as all details are maintained across official registers.
Jharkhand chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar said, “Even if information on the stickers has been erased due to the rain, it would not create problems because all voter-related details are maintained in BLO registers.” He added that damaged stickers have already been replaced in a few areas and that fresh ones have been put up at locations protected from rainwater. Residents in several localities said details written on the stickers have been washed away, leaving them blank.
