Ranchi: The state govt and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) have claimed before the Jharkhand high court that the criminal investigation department (CID) has not found any evidence of a paper leak, so far, in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) 2023.The CID conducted the probe after a case was filed by an exam candidate Prakash Kumar, followed by protests from various groups, including student bodies and the opposition BJP, accusing a paper leak and demanding cancellation of the exam.During the part hearing before a division bench led by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan on Tuesday, the state authorities said the evidence provided by the complainant of the case is a created document and its date has been changed through a mobile app.The govt further said that during the CID's investigation, the officers arrested several persons, who were taking money from candidates in the name of providing them with genuine question papers of the exam, but they failed to do so. The state govt also submitted an updated investigation report of the case before the court. The argument from the complainant’s side is likely to be held on Wednesday. Notably, the complainant has demanded an inquiry either by a CBI or a former high court judge in the case.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the court said that its earlier stay on the publication of examination results will continue. In the arguments of the case, the state govt and the JSSC were represented by advocate general (AG) Rajiv Ranjan and advocate Sanjay Piparwal, while former AG Ajit Kumar appeared for the complainant. The examination was held for 2025 posts on September 21 and 22 at 823 centres of the state last year.
