Dallas Wings newbie Paige Bueckers gets WNBA Rookie of the Year award - Fact or Fiction?

Page Bueckers joined the Dallas Wings as the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, making her debut for the team against the Minnesota Lynx. While as a team the Wings have not had a successful season, having been unable to clinch a playoffs position after the regular season, Bueckers, though, was able to make her mark in the league. Her talent has shined bright this season, with most critics predicting her to win the coveted Rookie of the Year award, and looks like they might have been spot on. While it has not been officially confirmed, a recently leaked video of Paige Bueckers appearing at The Jennifer Hudson Show, saw her with a trophy that looked quite familiar. Fans are of course speculating that Bueckers has already gotten her WNBA Rookie of the Year award, and was presented with it at the talk show. She has been the favorite to win the ROTY this season after a phenomenal performance on her debut season. Although Washington Mystics’ rookie, Sonia Citron, gave her a tough competition, Bueckers was the clear choice for most critics for the ROTY, and if the leaked video is anything to go by, they were absolutely right! Paige Bueckers' rookie campaign was one for the history books, even if her team had to let go of their championship hopes at the end of the regular season. At the end of her campaign - that is the Dallas Wings' last game of the regular season against the Phoenix Mercury, Bueckers had surpassed Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson on the all-time rookie scoring list, securing third place with 692 points.Before the last game, she was tied with Sue Bird on the rookie assists list at the third position. By the end of the game, she was able to surpass Bird by finishing the season with 194 assists for the year. She also surpassed Candace Parker to hold the record for the most points by a rookie in a single game in WNBA history. It's no surprise, she has managed to get a nod from the league and win the Rookie of the Year award, even if it is yet to be announced officially.
