Jamshedpur Zoo Names Tigress Cubs 'Tara' and 'Sara' After Public Vote
Jamshedpur: The Steel City residents have named two tigress cubs at Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) ‘Tara’ and ‘Sara’. The two cubs were born to Rudra, the resident tiger, and Meghna, the tigress on November 27, 2025. Both cubs were reported to be in good health. They were recently vaccinated against canine distemper and weighed 7.34 kg and 7.20 kg, respectively, indicating healthy growth and development. Earlier, the Tata Zoo authorities had invited the people to name the two cubs from January 10 to 13 in a unique initiative aimed at encouraging public participation and strengthening the bond between citizens and wildlife. “Over 550 entries were submitted by citizens. The winning entry was submitted by Angel Verma, who would be applauded on Republic Day,” said a zoo official.
