Garhwa: Expecting heavy rush for New Year revelry at various tourist spots and picnic places especially at Sukhaldari waterfall and Anraj Dam, Garhwa administration is on high alert.
Garhwa police have planned for elaborate security arrangements at various tourists and picnic spots. SP Aman Kumar said, “Elaborate arrangements will be made at all tourist centres and picnic spots for the security of revealers coming from various places on New Year’s Day. There will be regular patrolling by police control room (PCR) and bike squads on the roads leading to the tourists’ spots. Quick response team (QRT) will be put on alert in case of any emergency.”
Sukhaldari waterfall is the first choice of tourists and picnickers for its beautiful scenario. Located 60 km from the district headquarters in Garhwa, Sukhaldari waterfall is surrounded by high hills and thick forests. Thousands of people gather from across the district and other districts on New Year’s Day.
The second most choice of tourists and picnickers is Anraj Dam, mostly for enjoying boating and steamer services located 12 km from the district headquarters. Although Garhwa SDM, Sanjay Kumar has imposed a ban on swimming, diving and bathing in the dam to ensure safety for the picnickers, but boating and steamer services have been exempted from it.
The SDM has warned of action against tourists staying at the picnic spots after 5 pm at any of the public spots. These include Anraj Dam, Panghatwa Dam, Khajuri Dam, Uria Nadi, Koel Nadi, Banda Pahad, Son Nadi, Tahley Nadi, Chatania Dam and Satbahini mandir waterfall, the SDM said.
