'Not Genocide But Anger Against Govt': Cleric On Bangladesh Unrest, Questions Selective Outrage

Amid rising unrest in Bangladesh, Maulana Sajid Rashidi has pushed back against claims that the protests are anti-Hindu, saying they are directed at the Yunus government over economic distress. Calling the genocide label misleading, he questioned why similar standards are not applied to violence against Muslims in India or civilians in Gaza. Rashidi condemned all killings and said no religion permits violence against innocents. However, he accused commentators of selectively amplifying narratives for political ends. His remarks come as fresh mob violence in Bangladesh claims another Hindu life, keeping the spotlight firmly on law and order.
