The 'Student of the Year' actress added a distinct "desi" touch to her appearance at the prestigious London stage. In a move that resonated deeply across social media platforms, Alia began her presentation in Hindi. On the home turf, Al a Bhatt earned a heartfelt shout-out from fellow actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu.Alia Bhatt graced the BAFTA Awards 2026 red carpet wearing a stunning Marilyn Monroe-inspired silver sequinned gown from Gucci, paired with a white fur stole. Minimal glam, chandelier earrings and soft wavy hair upped her look. As she stepped up to present the award for Best Film Not in the English Language, Alia Bhatt surprised the audience by opening in Hindi.“Namaskar! Agla award ek aisi film ke liye hai, jo angrezi mein nahi hai,” which translates to "Greetings! The next award is for a film that is not in English," Alia stated. She then playfully added, “Don’t reach for the subtitles just yet. I was only saying in Hindi that the next award is for a film not in the English language.”The gesture didn't just win over the live audience; it sparked a wave of support back home. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, known for her vocal support of her peers, took to Instagram on Monday to share the clip. Tagging Alia, Samantha simply added a white heart emoji. This isn't the first time the 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' star has backed Bhatt. Samantha previously defended Alia during the release of 'Jigra,' calling her a "tigress" and praising her "feisty" performance and the high standards she sets for the industry.Both actors have a massive slate of projects lined up for 2026. While Samantha has 'Maa Inti Bangaaram,' releasing on May 15 and is directed by Nandini Reddy. She will also be seen in 'Rakt Brahmand' which is a high-fantasy series by Raj & DK. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt will be seen in 'Alpha' which is a part of the YRF Spy Universe; co-starring Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol. Bhatt will also be seen in 'Love & War,' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
