Five held in Giridih with spirit for making illicit liquor

Bokaro: Giridih police, in a joint operation with the Bihar excise department and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of state police, seized hundreds of gallons of raw spirit from a hotel in Hetnagar under Nimiaghat police station limits of Giridih on Monday. Five people, including the hotel owner, were arrested.The team, led by sub divisional police officer Sumit Kumar, carried out the raid in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Kumar said the seized spirit is worth several lakhs of rupees and were to be used in making illicit liquor. Preliminary investigations indicate the gang has been involved in illegal liquor trade along the Jharkhand-Bihar border for a long time. Officers are interrogating the accused to identify others involved in the racket.
