Crime crackdown underway: Zonal-level meeting on law and order discusses strategies; Properties of crime syndicates to be seized in multiple districts
Dhanbad: A zonal-level review meeting on law and order was held on Wednesday at the police headquarters auditorium at Dhanbad collectorate. The meeting was chaired by Inspector General of Police (IG) Sunil Bhaskar and attended by superintendents of police from seven districts, including Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Ramgarh, Koderma, Hazaribag, and Chatra. The focus of the meeting was to assess the current law and order situation and formulate strategies to effectively curb organised crime across the zone.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on tightening the grip on organised criminal networks and expediting action against habitual offenders. Clear directives were issued to district police heads to ensure strict monitoring of criminal activities and speedy disposal of pending cases.
Addressing the media after the meeting, IG Sunil Bhaskar said police teams in all seven districts are performing efficiently. He noted that the pace of case disposal improved significantly and concerted efforts are being made to control crime and arrest offenders at the earliest. He particularly cited the action taken in Chatra district, where properties of organised crime syndicates were seized, calling it a model to be replicated in other districts.
The IG informed that similar property seizure drives will now be carried out against organised crime members in other districts as well. He added that police are continuously working to identify and confiscate illegally acquired assets of criminals to weaken their economic backbone. He further stated that a list of criminals currently out on bail was prepared and they are being kept under constant surveillance.
