Bokaro: Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) employees on Saturday marched from the Mazdoor Maidan, Sector 4, to the Two Tank after passing through the Gandhi Chowk in protest against the bonus payment formula.Workers, under the banner of the BSL Anadhisashi Karamchari Sangh (BAKS), carried banners and posters, displaying production data, profits, and other figures while demanding cancellation of the bonus formula and the implementation of a production-related pay (PRP) structure.Accusing the National Joint Committee for Steel of siding with the BSL management, the protestors criticised the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) over the wage revision agreements, bonus settlements, arrears, and incentive rewards. BAKS leaders demanded that bonus be calculated based on per million tonnes of production, arguing that SAIL has been unilaterally imposing agreements and depositing bonus payments into workers’ accounts for the past three years.BAKS president Hari Om said, “The ministry of steel’s silence is worsening the resentment among the workers. We will not rest until production-related pay is implemented.”
