Bokaro: The district administration organised a poetry event on the concluding day of ‘Shabd Sarita Mahotsava’, a literary festival which began on Wednesday at the Shibu Soren Smriti Bhavan, bringing together literature, emotion, and social consciousness on a vibrant stage, on Friday. The event saw eminent poets from across the country mesmerise the audience with their powerful and evocative performances.
As part of the mahotsav, a Santhali dance-drama by the Jago Jagao Group added grandeur to the cultural series. The performance revived Birsa Munda’s legacy, inspiring audiences and connecting the younger generation to the state’s cultural and historical traditions.
The event commenced with ‘Sharade Vandana’, filling the auditorium with spiritual and literary energy. Renowned poet Nilotpal Mrinal emphasised that literature offers new perspectives and praised the district administration for the initiative.
“Mrinal’s heartfelt poems explored the farmers’ struggles, the value of labour, and the innocence of childhood, drawing strong emotional responses from the audience. His verses on youth, love, and sacrifice highlighted courage and devotion, while his satirical pieces on work and life struck a chord with the young professionals,” said Bokaro DC Ajay Nath Jha.
Other poets added to the event’s charm with verses celebrating life’s subtleties, springtime, and love. Administrative officers, including deputy collector of land reforms (DCLR) Prabhas Dutta and disaster management officer Shakti Kumar, also recited moving compositions, reflecting resilience, hope, and social realities.
