Blocked on phone, woman suspects affair, stabs lover to death
Raipur: A simmering fallout over a blocked phone number spiralled into a fatal confrontation on Tuesday, after a 22-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death at his rented accommodation in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district. The victim, Kamta Prasad Suryavanshi (25), worked at a local hotel and lived in a rented house in the Civil Lines area.Police said he was in a brief relationship for about six months with Roshni Suryavanshi (22), whom he met on Instagram. However, the relationship soured a few days ago after Kamta abruptly cut off communication with Roshni, blocking her calls and messages.Police said Roshni, suspecting that Kamta had started seeing another woman, went to his house carrying a knife on Tuesday afternoon. When Kamta opened the door, she demanded to see his mobile phone. His refusal allegedly triggered a heated argument that quickly turned violent."In a fit of rage during the altercation, the woman stabbed her lover in the chest," Bilaspur SP Rajnesh Singh said. Kamta's roommate, alerted by the noise, rushed out to find him lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on the way.Police reached the spot after the victim's roommate informed them of the incident.
The woman was detained at the scene. She was, subsequently, booked and arrested.Police said during preliminary questioning, the accused claimed to have brought the knife only to scare her victim. "We are examining her intent and motive, the nature of their relationship, and the exact sequence of events leading up to the stabbing," the SP said.
