1/7

Project objective

The Pune Outer Ring Road, developed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is a circular, access-controlled highway aimed at reducing city traffic by diverting long-distance and commercial vehicles away from urban areas.

2/7

Corridor layout

The project has two main corridors — western and eastern — forming a complete loop around Pune, with multi-lane access-controlled roads designed for smooth traffic flow.

3/7

Traffic relief

By redirecting heavy trucks and interstate traffic, the ring road is expected to ease congestion on existing city roads and reduce travel times for commuters.

4/7

Construction progress

Land surveys, route demarcation, and initial feasibility studies are nearly complete. Construction of bridges and tunnels has started near Sangrun and Davaje villages along the Khadakwasla dam backwaters.

5/7

Environmental and safety benefits

The project is expected to lower pollution levels due to reduced congestion and improve road safety through controlled access and modern infrastructure.

6/7

Connectivity

The ring road will link with major highways and future projects, including the Pune-Bengaluru greenfield expressway, improving regional transport and logistics.

7/7

Expected impact

Once operational, the road will reduce pressure on existing thoroughfares, support organized urban growth, and enhance travel efficiency across Pune.
