Indira University establishes Indira Stree after alumna death attributed to dowry

Pune: Indira University on Tuesday established Indira Stree, a women’s support and well-being initiative for all women associated with the university, after one of its alumna passed away in Bhopal allegedly due to dowry related harassment.Tarita Shankar, president of Indira University, Pune, and chairperson and chief mentor of Indira Group of Institutes, said the platform will provide emotional support, mental health counselling, career guidance, mentorship, legal referral assistance, and emergency help to its current women students as well as alumni.A prayer meeting was also held in the university, attended by current and former students and the deceased woman’s classmates along with her parents who attended the meet virtually.
