Patna: In a heart-wrenching incident, two sisters—Ruchi (28) and Suruchi (26)—lost their lives on Monday morning while attempting to get off a moving train near Bhagwanpur overbridge in Muzaffarpur district under Sadar police station area.
Both women were young bank probationary officers. While Ruchi worked with
Canara Bank, her younger sister Suruchi with State Bank of India. They were commuting from Patna to Muzaffarpur for work on Danapur-Muzaffarpur Intercity Express.
Police said as the train slowed near the overbridge, Ruchi tried to disembark but her leg got trapped. Suruchi rushed to pull her sister to safety, but the train suddenly picked up speed, dragging both to deaths. The impact was so severe that Ruchi was decapitated. Their bodies were left scattered on the tracks, leaving a grim scene that shocked onlookers.

Upon getting information, the Government Railway Police and Sadar police arrived at the incident site.
Ruchi was recently married and her husband serving in the defence forces. Suruchi, the younger sister, was unmarried. Their parents rushed to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), where the bodies were sent for postmortem.
“A bank ID card was also recovered from the site. Prima facie, it appears to be an accident. Further investigation is on,” said sub-inspector posted at Sadar police station, Rajiv Kumar.
“Parents of both the women lived in Patna, while Ruchi lived on rent in Muzaffarpur,” he said.
