BHAGALPUR: A minor boy and a 22-year-old man were arrested for alleged
gang rape of a schoolgirl in Banka district on Sunday evening. The 16-year-old boy was the classmate of the victim. The two dragged her to a secluded place when she had gone outside to attend nature’s call around 7pm on Sunday. The victim’s mother had gone in the village under Barahat police station area to attend a wedding ceremony. Both the accused were arrested in the wee hours of Monday.
Police sources said the other accused was identified as Srikant Mandal. Later, they also threatened the girl to killing her, if she disclosed the incident to others.
The Class X student, who was left at the spot in a precarious condition, somehow managed to reach home and narrated the incident to her mother after she returned late night.
They approached the Barahat police on Sunday night itself. Barahat police station SHO (incharge) Pramod Das raided the houses of the two accused and arrested them. Both confessed to their crime.
“An FIR has been registered at Mahila police station at Banka. The medical examination of the victim was conducted at Banka hospital and we will provide protection to the victim and her mother,” Das said. The victim’s father works outside the state.
