Patna: The state govt has approved Rs 34 crore for the construction of new buildings for the Muzaffarpur SP office and the Buddha Colony police station in Patna, deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said on Friday. He said the move was part of the state’s plan to further strengthen the police system.
Choudhary, who is also the state home minister, said a new office-cum-residential building will be constructed for the SSP in Muzaffarpur at a cost of Rs 18 crore. The G+4 building will be equipped with modern facilities.
He added that Rs 15 crore has been approved for a new G+6 police station building in the Buddha Colony area of Patna. “Given the rapidly growing population of Patna, being the state capital, the need for this police station building has been felt for a long time,” the deputy CM said.
Special provisions have been made in the 2025-26 budget for the construction and strengthening of police buildings. The government aims to provide the police with modern resources and facilities so that they can work more effectively, he said.
Choudhary added that the govt’s goal is not just to construct buildings but to modernise the entire police system.
In the future, the new buildings will include modern offices, training facilities, and residential accommodations, allowing police personnel to have all necessary facilities in one place.
“The govt is not just talking about law and order, but is continuously working to strengthen it at the ground level. The construction of new and modern buildings will provide police officers and personnel with a better working environment, and this will directly benefit the general public,” he said.
