Patna: Samastipur police on Wednesday arrested a suspect allegedly involved in connection with the murder of a teacher, Ganesh Sahni (30), who was shot dead in Tajpur police station area on Feb 8. The accused was apprehended along with the bike used in the crime. The motive behind the murder was a dispute over land deals.
The victim, Ganesh, was a private school owner and was also involved in property dealings, police said.

The arrested person was identified as Ankit Kumar, a resident of Dadanpur village in Halai police station area. Ganesh was shot dead near Darjaniya bridge by six motorcycle-borne miscreants.
Sadar ASP Sanjay Pandey said: “Sahni, along with running a private education institution, was also involved in the property dealing business. For this, he formed a team which included Surendra Sahni, Phulendra Sahni, Raju Sahni, along with Ankit Kumar, Rajeev and Randhir Ram.”
After a dispute among Ganesh, Phulendra Sahni and Raju, Ganesh formed a separate group and started the business. Meanwhile, Phulendra went to jail in a dispute case.
Ankit and Randhir received information that Ganesh was planning to kill them while they were on their way to a court. In retaliation, Ankit conspired with his group members and carried out the incident.
On the day of the incident, Randhir and Rajeev provided information to Ankit of Ganesh’s movement.
The ASP said: “An attempt was made to kill Ganesh a few days back as well. Ankit confessed to the killing during interrogation. Based on his statement, the bike used in the murder was recovered. Information was also obtained about where the weapon was procured from. The weapon will also be recovered soon.”
The ASP said CCTV cameras installed on routes near the crime scene were also being examined. Raids were being conducted to arrest other absconding criminals in this case. The arrested criminal was now being sent to jail.
