Patna: CM Nitish Kumar along with his all 25 cabinet colleagues declared movable and immovable assets on Wednesday. The CM declared assets worth Rs1.65 crore, an increase of about Rs68,455 compared with the previous year, according to the latest disclosure uploaded to the Bihar govt website. The disclosure shows Nitish has Rs20,552 in cash and nearly Rs57,800 deposited across various bank accounts.
Bihar has made it mandatory for all cabinet ministers to disclose their assets and liabilities on the last day of every calendar year. In line with this requirement, the CM and his cabinet colleges submitted declarations on Wednesday in the prescribed formats. The cabinet secretariat department uploaded the disclosures on official govt websites in the evening.
The CM’s statement lists movable assets of around Rs17.66 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs1.48 crore. His immovable property includes a single residential flat in a cooperative housing society in Dwarka, New Delhi. In 2024, Nitish had declared total movable and immovable assets of Rs1.64 crore.
The CM’s disclosure also notes he owns 10 cows and 13 calves. He has declared ownership of a car valued at Rs11.32 lakh.
The disclosures indicate several ministers have higher asset values than the CM. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary has declared Rs1.35 lakh in cash, while his wife, Kumari Mamta, has Rs35,000 in cash. Choudhary has also declared a rifle valued at Rs4 lakh. His immovable assets, including non-agricultural land, are valued at Rs4.91 crore.
Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha has declared immovable assets worth Rs48.46 lakh. He has also listed a revolver valued at Rs77,181.
Sports minister Shreyasi Singh, a sportsperson who won a gold medal in shooting in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, has declared movable assets worth more than Rs1.53 crore. She reported income of over Rs94 lakh in FY 2024-25. Her disclosure also mentions a gold bracelet valued at Rs1 lakh.
Health minister Mangal Pandey has declared movable assets worth over Rs1.32 crore, while his spouse, Urmila, has movable assets worth over Rs54 lakh. The disclosure shows Urmila owns more gold and jewellery than the minister. Pandey has declared 240 grams of gold, while Urmila has declared 680 grams of gold and 7 kg of silver.
Panchayati raj minister Deepak Prakash’s spouse, Sakshi Mishra, has also declared higher precious metal holdings than the first-time minister. Deepak Prakash has declared 15 grams of gold, while Sakshi Mishra has declared 500 grams of gold and 5 kg of silver.
