Man sent to jail 2 days before wedding on charge of rape in Supaul

Patna: A 28-year-old man was sent to jail on Monday, just two days before his scheduled wedding, for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Supaul district. The accused, Prabhash, son of Jeera Lal Sada, was to marry on March 11.According to police, the incident took place on March 4 during Holi celebrations. While people were applying colours, the accused allegedly approached the minor, applied colour to her, and then took advantage of the crowd and took her towards a public toilet, where he allegedly committed the crime.The victim’s family initially approached the local panchayat for an amicable settlement, but when no resolution was reached, they lodged a police complaint on March 5. A case was registered under the Pocso Act and other relevant sections.Local SHO Rajkishor Mandal said, “Considering the seriousness of the case, the accused was arrested on Sunday night and sent to jail after being produced in the local court. The medical examination of the victim has been conducted.”
