Motihari: Two lovebirds allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday morning by hanging themselves with ropes from a mango tree near Kheda village in Chiraiya police station area of East Champaran district.
The police sent their bodies to Motihari Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Asho Kumar, SDPO of Sikrahna, said during preliminary investigation, police found that the thumb of the boy Amit Kumar had a cut mark and the forehead of the girl Rani Kumari had blood stain.
According to police, Amit made a call to police at 4am telling that they were going to commit suicide in the mango orchard near Khoda village. The police soon reached the spot and recovered that a cellphone from the brother of deceased.
Local villagers said Amit, a student of class X and Rani Kumari, student of class IX were studying in Chiraiya high school near their village and both had been in love for the last one year. However, father of Rani protested the affair, said Dinesh Paswan, uncle of Amit. Jiya Lal Paswan, another uncle of Amit, alleged that the family members of Rani had threatened to kill Amit if he did not break the relation with Rani.
