Patna: Days after the activists of Mukund Sena staged a 12-hour-long hunger strike at the dharna site in Patna’s Gardanibagh locality, demanding CM Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics, a senior JD(U) legislator on Friday requested the CM to hand over the party’s reins to his son.Talking to a section of the media on Friday, JD(U) MLA from Kanti, Ajit Kumar said the CM dedicated his entire life to social service, and it would be a matter of great pleasure for all the party workers if his son, Nishant, joined the party. He said all the party workers were eagerly waiting for it.

“All JD(U) workers want Nishant to join politics. We are eagerly waiting for the day when we hear the good news,” the JD(U) MLA said, making a fervent appeal to the CM to introduce his son into politics. “He (Nishant) is young, an engineer, and has vision. He must definitely join politics,” the JD(U) legislator said, adding that, “Under his leadership, the dream of making a better Bihar will will get a fresh impetus.”The demand comes barely four days after the Mukund Sena activists staged a hunger strike in Patna, demanding that Nishant be launched into politics without any further delay. “Nishant is an educated youth and should be given the opportunity in politics.
He can handle Bihar’s reins along with the party,” said Mukund Kuamr, the president of Mukund Sena, on Sunday.The sena also threatened to hold a 24-hour agitation near JP roundabout in Patna next time if their demand is not considered. “People from every caste, creed and community are looking at Nishant with great expectation... He must be given the chance,” the Sena demanded.The development followed after rural development minister Shrawan Kumar said all in the JD(U) wanted Nishant to join politics. “We all want him to join politics, but it is Nishant to take a call and the CM to decide,” the minister said.Prior to him, the party’s national general secretary Manish Kumar Verma said all the JD(U) workers were demanding that Nishant take a decision about his next step. “Now it’s Nishant to decide over the issue,’ Verma, a former IAS officer, told the media earlier this week.Last month, JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha sparked a political debate with his remark that “everybody wants Nishant to join politics”.
