International summit: Nalanda University to host heads of higher education institutions

Nalanda University is set to host the East Asia Summit conference of higher education heads from September 17-19. Initiated by PM Modi, the conference aims to foster knowledge sharing on energy conservation among EAS countries. The event will strengthen educational ties, promote collaborative research, and address climate change through sustainable lifestyles, aligning with India's Mission LiFE.

Patna: Nalanda University is fully prepared to host the conference of heads of higher education institutions under the East Asia Summit (EAS) from Sept 17 to Sept 19, a university official told TOI on Tuesday.The conference, called for by PM Narendra Modi during his address at the 19th East Asia Summit in Laos in 2024, aims to bring together leaders from EAS countries to share knowledge on energy conservation initiatives.Organised under the ASEAN-India University Network (AINU) in collaboration with the ministry of external affairs, ASEAN-India Centre at the RIS (Research and Information System for Developing Countries), ASEAN Centre for Energy, Centre for Studies in Development and Sustainability (CSDS), and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the conference will provide a platform for policymakers, academicians, and experts from premier institutions across EAS countries, including India, the official said.The event seeks to strengthen global cooperation in education and share initiatives related to sustainable education and environmental protection. A special workshop will be organised during the conference to promote the Government of India’s Mission LiFE initiative.“Spanning three days, the conference will place special emphasis on strengthening India–EAS educational ties, exploring opportunities for collaborative research, and facilitating the exchange of experiences between students and faculty members.
At the same time, the conference will serve as a positive initiative towards addressing climate change and adopting sustainable lifestyles,” the official said.Vice-chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi added, “Nalanda University’s effort promotes mutual cooperation in higher education and aligns perfectly with India’s Mission LiFE. We aim to inspire sustainable lifestyles for environmental conservation and open new dimensions of global cooperation.”As the headquarters of AINU, Nalanda University is leading this international conference.
