84 more seats up for grabs at IIT-Patna this year; ‘open house’ on June 16

Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) will host a virtual “open house” on June 16 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm for students who have qualified JEE (Advanced) 2024 and are interested in enrolling in the BTech programme for the 2024-25 academic year.

The event aims to provide prospective students with valuable insights into the institute’s academic programmes, faculties, various activities, and campus life. IIT-P will offer 817 seats this year, an increase of 84 seats compared to 2023, across 32 academic programmes, including 12 four-year undergraduate programmes and 20 five-year dual degree programmes.

IIT-P information officer Kripa Shankar Singh said, “This enriching event will offer the aspiring engineers a unique platform to explore the vast opportunities and world-class facilities that await them at IIT Patna.”

A panel comprising IIT-P director, deans, associate deans, faculties, alumni, and members of the student-gymkhana will be present to provide participants with a virtual tour of the campus and address their queries and concerns. The open house will offer comprehensive information about scholarships, admission procedures, career prospects, and industry collaborations, enabling students to make informed decisions about their future.

Singh said during the open house, students will gain first-hand experience of the vibrant academic environment, cutting-edge research facilities, and diverse range of disciplines offered at IIT-Patna.

They will also gain insight into the infrastructure, hostel arrangements, and other aspects of student life on campus, he added.

The JEE (Advanced) results were announced on June 9, and the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) began accepting online applications for the counselling process on June 10.

JoSAA counselling will be conducted for 17,740 seats across all IITs in the country, with seat allocation carried out in five rounds.
