Patna: In a unique initiative, the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) on Wednesday organised a labour-harmony community feast marking autumn harvest. Scores of agriculture labours engaged in agricultural activities on the campus farm along with the faculty members and students, led by vice-chancellor K N Singh, took their meals together.
The VC said that the feast ‘Krishi Shramyogi- Samrasta Sahabhoj’ (agriculture labour-harmony community feast) was organised by the CUSB’s department of agriculture as a gesture of goodwill and respect for labours. The basic spirit behind organising this feast was to restore dignity of labour and to foster a sense of equality and affectionate care towards the labours.
He pointed out that respect for labour within society is an indispensable prerequisite for achieving the goals of a 'self-reliant India' and a 'Developed India'.
Distinguished guests who participated in the feast included Mahant Pratyanand and Vivekananda from the Shankaracharya Math of Bodh Gaya, as well as Muslim Rashtriya Manch convener Indresh Kumar, besides university officials.
