All state thanas to be linked with national criminal justice network

Patna: All 1,382 police stations in Bihar will soon be connected to the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), a national platform designed to enable seamless data exchange among police stations, courts, jails, forensic laboratories and prosecution units across the country.At present, 968 police stations are linked to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS). Another 347 police stations will be connected within two months, while the remaining stations will be integrated within three months, additional director general of State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) and modernisation Ajitabh Kumar said on Monday.The upgraded version of ICJS, launched in 2022, is expected to strengthen case tracking and bring uniformity in sharing police-related data nationwide.Giving details of the digitisation drive, Ajitabh said, “So far, 1,212 police stations in Bihar have CCTV cameras installed, with an average of 12-13 cameras per station. The remaining stations will get cameras in 2-3 months. The footage is stored for 18 months and can be accessed from police headquarters and all district headquarters.”He said the Cri-MAC portal was being effectively used for exchange of Zero FIRs. Under e-Sakshya, 21,640 of 22,848 investigating officers have been registered. More than 3.99 lakh FIRs have been filed through the system, while 1.42 lakh evidence IDs have been generated. Of these, 67,185 FIRs have been linked to evidence.The Citizen Service Portal, launched in Dec 2025, allows people to obtain FIR copies, track missing persons and share information confidentially with police.Ajitabh said Bihar Police would soon adopt predictive policing using AI-based software to identify crime trends and prevent incidents in advance.
