All 537 block offices to get CCTV cameras: Deputy CM
In a significant move towards greater governmental transparency, Bihar is set to install CCTV cameras across its 537 block offices, with an investment of Rs 1.25 lakh earmarked for each location. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha has championed this initiative, which is expected to bolster accountability within local administration.
Patna: All 537 block offices in the state will be equipped with CCTV cameras and an amount of Rs1.25 lakh has been allocated per office for the work. The project is expected to be completed within this year, said deputy CM and revenue and land reforms minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday.Sinha added, “The govt is committed to making the administrative system more transparent, accountable, and people-oriented. This decision is a step in that direction.”

Department secretary Gopal Meena has issued a letter to all district magistrates, providing detailed instructions. According to the letter, a total of Rs6.71 crore has been allocated for the purchase and installation of CCTV cameras in all block offices at Rs1.25 lakh per office. The funds have been released through the CFMS and made available to the offices concerned, Sinha said.“Funds must be withdrawn within this financial year. If, for any reason, the withdrawal is delayed and the liability carries over to the next financial year, the officer concerned will be held responsible,” the letter read.
