9-year-old boy on way to buy birthday cake run over by truck in Bhojpur
Ara: A birthday celebration turned tragic in Bhojpur on Wednesday evening when a 9-year-old boy, Pratik Kumar — son of Sujit Kumar Singh — was hit by a speeding truck while he was on his way to bring his birthday cake from a nearby market. He later succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital.According to police, the incident took place at Ghaghar village under Krishnagarh police station. Villagers chased down the fleeing truck driver and caught him. SHO Raushan Kumar told mediapersons that the driver has been arrested and the truck involved in the accident seized.

Raju Singh, uncle of the deceased child, said, “It was Pratik’s birthday today. He was going to get his cake from the nearby market when a truck hit him. He was first taken to a local hospital in Saraiya Bazaar and later shifted to a private hospital in Ara. Doctors then referred him to Sadar Hospital, Ara, but he died on the way.”Angered by the death of the child, locals blocked the Saraiya–Sinha Road in protest. The blockade was lifted after senior police officers intervened.
