Man stabbed to death by wife’s lover in Noida, 4 arrested
Noida: Four people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly murdering a man from Ghodi Bacheda village in Dadri. The body of Govind Rawal was found on an empty plot in Shiv Vatika Colony on Kathhaira Road on Monday. He had stab wounds near his neck. Police said the men committed the murder to save the woman from domestic abuse and she was in a relationship with one of them.
Two of the men, Rohit Rawal and Nafees, were arrested after a gunfight near Kot Canal. Govind Rawal's wife, Preeti Devi and another accomplice, Dharmendra were arrested later from Ghodi Bacheda village.ADCP Greater Noida Sudhir Kumar said the police identified the body with the help of social media, surveillance, pamphlets and CCTV footage and handed over the remains to Govind's family. On Feb 18, based on his brother's complaint, an FIR was registered under BNS sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) at Dadri police station. Four teams were formed to investigate the murder.Investigations led police to Rohit and Nafees. They were on their way to Chakrasenpur village on a motorcycle when they were caught after a brief gunfight. Two pistols, a knife, which was allegedly used in the murder, cartridges and the motorcycle were seized.During interrogation, Rohit told police that Govind was a neighbour from his village. Govind was an alcoholic and would beat his wife, Preeti. About two years ago, Rohit and Preeti got involved in a romantic relationship. However, it was becoming intolerable for Preeti to live in the abusive environment, so a few days ago, they hatched a plan to kill Govind. They involved their neighbours, Nafees and Dharmendra , in the plan as well. On Feb 12, Rohit lured Govind from his home on the pretext of drinking. They took Dharmendra's motorcycle and went to a liquor shop near the Chithaira petrol pump on GT Road, where they picked up some bottles. Rohit called Nafees to join them. He came armed with a knife.Rohit, Nafees and Govind sat in an empty plot in Shiv Vatika Colony and drank. When Govind became intoxicated, Rohit grabbed his hand, and Nafees attacked him with the knife. They stabbed him near his neck. They dumped over the boundary wall. Nafees and Rohit then returned home. On Feb 15, Rohit and Dharmendra returned to the scene, picked up the body and tried to hide it. ADCP Kumar said that further proceedings are underway.
