SUV plunges 500-ft in Tamhini ghat gorge in Raigad, drone search operation finds six men dead
NAVI MUMBAI: A SUV travelling along the Tamhini ghat lost control at a road curvature on Mangaon-Pune highway in Raigad district and fell about 500-feet in the gorge on Tuesday. But the incident came to light on Wednesday evening after the families of the friends group of six men from Pune district became incommunicado. Hence, Mangaon police team reached Tamhini ghat and using drone carried out a search operation in the gorge as there have been several fatal mishaps of vehicles falling in the gorge, informed Nivrutti Borhade, senior inspector of Mangaon police station.
Inspector Borhade said, "As the SUV with six men has fallen about 500-feet down the gorge, it is a herculean task to bring up the bodies and efforts are been taken with the help of an NGO rescue team. The six men have been identified.
