BJP candidate wins unopposed in Panvel civic polls
NAVI MUMBAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has opened it's victory account in Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) general election even before polling with one candidate being elected unopposed as the rival candidate's application was rejected during scrutiny on Wed.The candidate elected unopposed is BJP's Raigad district secretary Nitin Jairam Patil, who had filed his nomination for ward number 18B. While the candidate whose application was rejected is Rohan Arvind Gawand of Shetkari Kamgar Paksha, who was contesting in backward class category.

During scrutiny, objection was raised against the application of Rohan Gawand due to non-compliance his caste verification documents. Subsequently, Returning Officer Pawan Chandak announced that Gawand's application has been rejected. Here, since only two persons had filed applications, it became clear that the candidature of BJP's Nitin Jairam Patil was valid and unopposed.
