NASHIK: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray lit the Maha Kumbh Akhand Jyot, a lamp depicting national and world peace, at sadhugram on Tuesday. The flame of the lamp, which has entered the Limca Book of Records, will stay lighted from July 14 to October 29.
A 750-ft-long cotton wick will keep burning continuously for 108 days using sesame oil.
Shiv Sena leaders Dada Bhuse, Anil Kadam and Yogesh Gholap, along with all mahants and sadhus were present for the inaugural function organised by Shri Jai Gopal Gayatri Siddhipeeth Trust.

The inner diameter of the lamp in the shape of a lotus is 24 x 24 ft has been designed by architect Pranjal Dabhade. During the programme, Thackeray said the Shiv Sena has demanded waiving loans of the farmers. He also said that the industries that have moved out of the state should be brought back.
