Jalgaon police start preparing criminal dossier
Nashik: The Jalgaon police, under the guidance of SP Shrikant Dhivare, has taken up the work of compiling a criminal dossier through all its 36 police stations, excluding the cyber police station.
The campaign was launched by the Jalgaon police on Saturday. History-sheeters, habitual offenders, individuals involved in body and property offences, eve-teasers, and people against whom preventive action was taken are being called to the police stations to fill out certain forms.
SP Shrikant Dhivare said the police have created a form in which complete information about a criminal on police record can be filled.
The form includes details about the family of the criminal, his Aadhaar, PAN, property details, vehicles they own and in whose name they were registered, social media accounts, physical identification marks, tattoos, friend circle, past crimes and their current status, specific modus of committing crime, their area of operation, addictions, debts, etc.
He said the aim is to create an updated and comprehensive database of criminals at every police station, which will enable the swift exchange of information between police stations is a crime takes place.
The information collected will help the police seize assets of criminals and also take legal action against the wanted or absconding criminals based on their property and other traced details.
The information will also help new officers and personnel get easy access to information and physical identification of local criminals, as officers and police personnel are often transferred, and it takes time for the incoming staff to get accustomed to the local criminal landscape.
