NASHIK: A fire broke out at a bakery in the Carbon Naka area of Satpur MIDC in the early hours of Saturday, destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees, though no injuries were reported, officials said.
The incident occurred around 4.30am, after which workers inside the bakery alerted the city fire brigade.
One fire tender was rushed initially, but as the fire spread, tenders from Cidco and Satpur MIDC were also called in.
In total, 12 fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, said Vijay Musale, leading fireman of the Satpur fire brigade centre.
By noon, firemen were still at the site cooling the area to prevent the fire from reigniting. Musale said the bakery covered around 5,000 square feet, and about 20 people were inside when the fire broke out.
According to labourers, an electrical short circuit near the bakery’s CCTV unit triggered the blaze, which quickly spread across the premises.
Satpur police also reached the spot to ensure firefighting operations were not obstructed.
