Fast-track clearance sought for MIDC sewerage project
Nashik: State chief secretary Rajesh Aggarwal has directed the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to expedite the long-pending sewerage network project for Ambad and Satpur MIDC industrial estates located within the Nashik city limits. The directive comes amid delays in technical approvals for the project which is considered critical ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The chief secretary issued the instructions during a review meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday soon after his three-day visit to Nashik between April 3 and 5 to review Kumbh Mela preparations by different authorities.During the meeting, Aggarwal expressed concern over the slow progress of the sewerage project and instructed the MJP to grant technical sanction to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) at the earliest. He also asked the NMC to ensure that the project is fast-tracked given its importance to city infrastructure and environmental management. The civic body has proposed laying an underground sewerage network of around 81 km along with the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) to serve the Ambad and Satpur industrial estates.
